Takes some work...I bought this small bridge to go across a little steam in our country garden.
I checked the dimensions: it's small but just about useable. It's cheap too, so we're in 'mustn't grumble...' territory.
Expect it to take half a day to get it all together. I upgraded a few of the screws and bolts as I was lucky enough to have a supply of stuff in my garage. The first thing to know is that the manufacturer has to get this to you in a smallish cardboard box to keep costs down, so the central support timbers are split into halves with very basic friction joints that bolt together. If you put it together as suggested and do all the bolts up, the first time anyone steps on it, it makes ominous cracking noises and bends. Clearly this isn't designed to take freight trains over a river but my solution was to put a 2x2" timber trimmer alongside the central rib (which is straight) and this is enough for light footfall: it doesn't show when in place.
To get all the timber foot plates in, it's worth making up a quick spacer out of anything handy. The manufacturers pre-mark/drill the timbers but when I tried using their guide holes the offset in the spacing will set off anyone who suffers with OCD and I could already hear my other half saying "Why are all those timbers out of line...?"!
Once finished, quite a nice little bridge. I just wish there were manufacturers making more solid units. It serves its purpose, rather like a cheap garden bench - but I would have preferred something stronger that looks like it will last.Posted on

Worth the price.Overall a good product for the price and exactly what I wanted. Some of the parts slightly damaged and holes not exactly where they should be, but nothing too drastic. Bought two, one for front and one for back garden.

A lovely looking bridge that is also functional (passed the cat test) and superb customer service.I bought this for my mother so that she could access the small island she has ' behind her pond the bridge I built her was still okay but narrow and as she is getting older his harder for her to walk up and down so this was the answer. Now her ginger female cat " barley" the pond, the island and the fish are her world so it needed to pass her fare inspection.
I had been ill recently and spent 1 Month in hospital and mobility was an issue but managed to build the bridge indoors due to the weather mainly.
Instructions easy to follow a few holes had not been drilled out but that was easily dealt with.
Bridge went in place and now barley has her happy place back and mum can get onto the island. Fits in well with the surrounding and is admired by those who see it the Herefordshire wildlife and mum’s cats all use it and I do not regret buying it. Functional and wonderful too.
I had an occasion to contact Gaintex UK Customer service and found them to be very polite and very helpful. My interaction with them was very positive and I have problem in recommending them and the product to others.Posted on

VERY expensive to safely installSmall bridge over garden stream. (I am very slightly disabled). The builder who came to quote and advise said the only safe way to use it would be to fix it in concrete. Bridge £62, installation nearer £100! Not viable. I'll just have to keep on walking the long way round!
I returned it.Posted on

Patience needed and 2 hoursSlightly overpriced for the quality only worth about £30.
Suggest oiling all bolts before assembly, as this will ease them into holes, which don’t align.
Lay all bits out and work it out for yourself, instructions poorly drawn.
Put all short planks in place first.
Extra support (bracing) may be needed in middle if adults are going to use it.
Sand down rough edges if children are to go on it.
Treat wood with preservative to prevent rot.
Stand off mud on bricks to protect wood.Posted on

Sturdy little bridgeHad it over our little stream in the garden. It is a solid little bridge, it is a lot cheaper than the one I found at out local garden centre. I'm quite impressed with the quality for it's price. It does comes with an instruction but you will need to be quite patient to be able to assemble it with the amounts of screws that comes with. But it worth the effort, my children absolutely loves it.
